History consists of thousands of events that we will never see. That’s because they happened long ago when the only evidence left was what someone wrote down—or sometimes an artifact. I once knew a man who told me he did not believe in God because he could not see, hear, or touch Him. That was his proof of reality.
I asked him, “Then do you believe love is real?” He couldn’t say a word in reply. He had grown up in a loving family, so he had to admit that love was real. But his pride kept him silent to my question. Of course, we cannot see, hear, or touch love—yet it is a very real thing. So how do we judge its reality? Our own hearts believe in love because there is so much evidence of it in the world around us. A parent with a child. A married couple. We can see and hear how they communicate and say, “He must love that woman,” or “She adores her child.”
In the same way, many people of faith trust that there is a Creator God—not because they can see or touch Him, but because they see the proof of His existence all around them. In every culture strong enough to endure as a nation, there has been a foundational belief in a creator who was considered and prayed to as an all-powerful deity.
Look into the heavens and you will see a violent place—planets forming, suns exploding, cosmic events of staggering power. And yet, our fragile earth sustains life. The fact that we exist at all is a miracle renewed daily. The human body alone has millions of components that must function in harmony. If the pull of gravity shifted only slightly, all life would be changed. Even now, you are flying through space at nearly 445,000 miles per hour. Do we really believe that such fragile and complex beings as ourselves, riding at this speed through a universe of immense forces, can do this by pure chance?
“The Son, Jesus, is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created… He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:15-17, NIV)
And there is our answer: Our world is held together every single day by God. With our fast paced technology-driven lives, many demand instant answers. But to truly grasp the power of God, we need to step away from the noise, turn off the devices, and take time to think deeply. The Bible is a remarkable record of human history—written over thousands of years by more than sixty different authors, most of whom never knew one another. And yet their writings form a unified story of a Creator who designed the universe with purpose. And He loves You.
